Little Tikes Upcycled Army Jeep

Thanks for joining me.
Today I wish to share my recent upcycled project with you.
A Little Tikes Cozy Coupe Truck.

So a few months ago I started looking for a special gift I could give my grandson for his 1ST Birthday.

I love to give myself a challenge, so I did a little research and decided to transform a Cozy Coupe into a custom made Camo Jeep.

These cozy coupe's retail for around $150 new but I found 2 of them on Facebook Marketplace for $50.

So I was able to have one for spares if I needed to do repairs or replace parts.

Firstly I started by taking the truck apart, so that all the pieces were separate.
This is where a hubby that happens to be a mechanic/handyman comes in handy.
He was able to disassemble it for me.

These are the before photos.

So we removed the hood/roof and all the covers (grill, fuel cap, steering wheel, back wheels).

I then went on a shopping trip to Bunnings to find the paint needed for the transformation.
These are the colours I used to create the camo.
They are a primer and paint in a can which allows you to paint straight over the plastic.

So after disassembling the coupe, I covered the front wheels with glad wrap, so there would be no overspray on the wheels.

I decided to start with the bottle green as my base and work from there.

Then I just started layering the colours as I went.
There really wasn't any set plan.

I repeated the same process on the pillars & roof.

I left the pieces to dry for a few days and then started putting it back together.

Again this is where hubby came in handy.

Once we had it back together , I then used my trusty Cricut Machine and created the vinyl stickers for the roof and sides of the jeep.

I was able to find replacement stickers for the side mirrors, dash, grille, lights & tail lights.

The Company is called The Toy Restore

You can see the sticker here on the side mirror.

You can see the tail light stickers, grille, front lights, indicators etc.
Unfortunately I had already put the car back together and I didn't want to take the eye piece out, just to place the sticker on, so I painted them instead.

To finish off I made a custom number plate.
Hubby measured and cut the metal plate to fit.

ELIJAH'S
TUFF 4X4

This number plate is to reflect my son in law's number plate.
He has a VY Holden Wagon - Number plate is TUFF VY.
So I had to do it.

I was so happy with the end result & so was my grandson.

That smile says it all!!!!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have enjoyed sharing my makeover.
